A Fantastic collectors original German Kingdom of Bavaria First World War Infantry officer's Pickelhaube. For this estimated valuation the following conditions must be similar. Leather body is sound, with some crazing to lacquered surface, both peaks are firmly attached as are the correct officer pattern state and national cockades. Flat gilded chinscales are good and tight, with original leather cover to rear. Gilded helmet plate is typical of the thin economy 1914-16 type produced. Cruciform spike base retains all 4 officer's stars, with spike base retaining its pearling and fluted spike. Some slight sinking to top of crown, but this is typical of these cruciform pieces. Some heat crazing is evident to both peaks, but as stated, solid and in good shape. Rear brass spine is solidly attached. Interior has a unique silk sweat cover, with all screws etc present and tight. Approximate size would be 56/57.
